According to industry sources, Indian hilsa is reaching local markets through illegal routes despite an existing import ban. These fish, which cost approximately Tk500 per kilogram, are allegedly being rebranded as Padma hilsa and sold to consumers at prices ranging from Tk2,000 to Tk3,000 per kilogram.
